Babymoon

With our anticipation of the baby’s arrival, we know very well that any trips we take from here on out will be much different than what we’ve experienced in our almost nine years together.  Going on a “Babymoon” before we become a family of three is something that we knew we both needed.  Not being able to take any type of trip over the past several months made it even more enticing to fit one in if we could make it happen.

Kyra and Sam encouraged us to get away and take a weekend trip up the coast to Bluey’s Beach.  Sam’s family has a beach house that is a five minute walk from the beach.  We checked our weekend plans and found one that worked.  It took us about 3 ½-4 hours to get there.  There were only a handful of small shops and by the time we got there most were closed.  We ordered pizza at a little restaurant and picked up a few items at the grocery store so we could make our meals for the rest of the weekend.
We took advantage of eating on the deck and appreciated the quiet evening, beautiful views, and perfect weather.  My only complaint was getting eaten alive by the mozzies.  If you think I am joking, just ask Luke.  They didn’t miss a spot!
You would imagine that by staying in a beach house with the windows open that we would have a strong breeze of the ocean blowing through.  According to Luke, we did.  According to me and my built in heater, we did not.  I had a very difficult time sleeping, plus several more mozzies paid me a visit throughout the night buzzing in my ears and snacking on any part of my exposed skin.
First thing in the morning we woke up to an impressive sunrise and walked down to the café for breakfast.  We headed down to the beach and joined all of the surfers and families for a day of warm weather and relaxation.  It was fun to watch kids of all ages playing in the water with confidence and excitement.  They all seemed to run as fast as they could towards the water and then they would freeze before actually entering.  What we’ve found by our visits to beaches here is that children learn swim safety from a very early age and so we also intend to get the bub into swim lessons when he/she is 6 months old to get that process started.
It was so refreshing to spend our time reading, napping, and taking in the opportunity to truly have “no worries” for a few days.  We realized that our little getaway made an excellent Babymoon and also a good way to celebrate our upcoming 2nd anniversary.  (Our anniversary is March 6 and bub is due that week!)

Even though I was burning up, Luke talked me into wearing his pants while we ate dinner on the deck to help keep the mozzies away the second night.

I can't believe I'm posting this picture but here I am.  The funniest thing, which I would not be sharing by photo, is that my upper legs are totally white where my belly hangs over when I sit in my little beach chair!

 We loved watching the surfers!
